Event description:

“Perturbed Ising Chains: E8 Spectrum, Dynamics, and Crosscap States”

I will discuss two aspects of a near-critical quantum Ising chain with both transverse and longitudinal fields (known as the “E8 magnet”). In the first part, I will introduce our newly developed Truncated Gaussian Basis Approach and demonstrate its effectiveness in computing dynamic quantities, such as dynamic correlation functions and quench dynamics. Our results not only show excellent agreement with analytical predictions (e.g., Zamolodchikov’s E8 mass spectrum) but also enable simulation of long-time dynamics. In the second part, I will show how different types of crosscap boundary states in the 2D Ising Field Theory can be systematically constructed from the lattice model.
