Event description:
I will quickly review the basics of the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT) and mention various efforts to build up the foundation of the SMEFT. Next I review the current status of global fits to the open parameters of the SMEFT and motivate precision calculations for the future of the LHC. With this motivation I will elaborate on my recent work on calculations of the Higgs width and the Ward identities in the SMEFT.
