Helen Caines, Horace D. Taft Professor of Physics and a member of Yale’s Wright Lab, was recently elected the Vice-Chair of the 2025 Executive Committee for the American Physical Society (APS) Division of Nuclear Physics (DNP).  Caines’ term will begin in March, at the end of the APS Global Physics Summit.

Caines said, ” I am deeply honored and excited to serve on the DNP executive committee.  I am committed to building on its strong foundations to ensure that the DNP remains both relevant and welcoming to the entire Nuclear Physics community.”

She continued, “I will also work with the relevant experts to sustain and enhance our successful initiatives, such as the Conference Experience for Undergraduates (CEU) and Allies programs. Now, more than ever, these community-building efforts are essential to the growth and strength of our field.”

According to the announcement in the DNP newsletter no. 223 from February 2025, “The DNP depends on volunteers to carry out the business of the Division and the dedication of the Executive Committee makes it possible for the DNP to be a strong advocate for nuclear physics in the APS.”
