The Physics Department is pleased to announce that this year we will hold the first annual Howard L. Schultz Undergraduate Prize Lecture. The prize will be funded by the generous donations from the friends, colleagues and students of former Yale Professor Howard L Schultz (PhD, 1937). Paul Tipton, Chair of the Dept. states that “the current plan is to have the undergraduate student leaders of the Women in Physics (WIP) and Society of Physics Students (SPS) organizations lead the speaker selection process. The hope is that the speakers will spend the day with our undergraduates and deliver a lecture tailored to their interests and background.”
The inaugural Schultz Prize Lecture Organizational Committee is comprised of the leadership of SPS: Aaron Hillman ’18, Sophia Sanchez-Maes ’19, and Cady van Assendelft ‘19, and the leadership of WIP: Julia Wei ‘19, Katie Melbourne ‘19, Elizabeth Ruddy ‘20, Isabella Trierweiler ‘18, Heather Harrington ‘19 and Alexa Murray ‘19. DUS Simon Mochrie will provide faculty assistance to this group. The first lecture is being planned for 2018, spring semester.
