Please join us in welcoming new faculty to the physics department! Karsten Heeger and Reina Maruyama will be joining us starting July 1, 2013. Both Karsten and Reina are also very interested in teaching and mentoring students. Please stop by to talk to them in the fall, as they both settle in. Karsten Heeger

Karsten Heeger, Professor of Physics, University of Wisconsin, Madison; previously Chamberlain Fellow then Physicist Scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Physics Division (2002-2006); Ph.D. University of Washington, 2002, Thesis Advisor: Prof. R.G.H. Robertson; appointment as Prof. of Physics, Yale College and Yale Graduate School. Involved in CUORE, Daya Bay and other experiments.

Reina Murayama

Reina Maruyama, Assistant Professor of Physics, University of Wisconsin-Madison; previously Assistant Scientist, IceCube Research Center  (2006-2010); Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Fellow and Postdoctoral Research Associate, University of California, Berkeley, and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (2003 – 2006); Ph.D. University of Washington, 2003, Thesis Advisor: E. Norval Fortson; appointment as Asst. Prof. of Physics, Yale College and Yale Graduate School. PI of DM-Ice; member CUORE and IceCube experiments.
