On Monday, November 18, the Yale Physics community gathered to celebrate Daphne Klemme, senior administrative assistant. Daphne has supported the Yale Physics Department for 20 years, since 2004.

Daphne provides administrative support to faculty, postdocs, and students; and serves as the department’s undergraduate registrar and postdoctoral appointments coordinator.

Daphne said, “I have enjoyed my 20 years in the physics department. I enjoy the varied tasks and the many opportunities to learn new things. The faculty and staff have given me a lot of positive support over the years. I look forward to several more years in the department.”

Before coming to Yale, Daphne was the secretary for the Condensed Matter Group in the department of physics at Indiana University.

Steven Girvin, Sterling Professor of Physics and Professor of Applied Physics at Yale, who came from Indiana to Yale at the same time Daphne did, said, “I have known Daphne since my days at Indiana University. Both there and during her 20 years here at Yale, she has been a wonderfully efficient, helpful, and knowledgeable member of the physics department.  Among her many exceptional skills, she is a true wizard at typesetting equation-filled documents.”

Daphne received a Master of Arts (English Language) from Xavier University and a Bachelor of Arts from St. Francis Xavier University
