The Harris Lab is moving two experiments into YSB! We’ve done lots of packing, carting, schlepping, unpacking, and sorting. It has been a great way to get to know the new members of our lab and bring them into the family! I’m also learning a lot about optical components.
In the meantime, my particular experiment is not moving locations, so we have done some scans in the spooky, dark basement of Wright Lab. We are levitating glass and seeing how it responds to an AC voltage bias in its static magneto-gravitational trap. This is a continuation of the levitation of glass and water that I did in my bedroom in Wisconsin during Fall 2020. (My lab sent me materials!) Next up is cleaning a salvaged vacuum chamber (courtesy of Sid Cahn, senior lecturer and research scientist).
