This summer, I am working with Professor Alexander Tchekhovskoy from Northwestern University running simulations of stars tidally disrupted by supermassive black holes on the Longhorn supercomputing cluster at the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC). The simulations will use the general relativistic magnetohydrodynamics (GRMHD) code H-AMR and will include physics which has been neglected in previous works on tidal disruptions: specifically, ion decoupling and (M1) radiation. I am working remotely from New Haven and I’ve attached a picture of my workspace.
